The game allows players to take control of Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter from the movie as they explore the land of Narnia, and has been capturing the imagination of gamers all over the world. The movie on which the game is based is set to hit cinema screens this week, which should see the game’s sales rise even further thanks to the added hype the movie will produce.

There is great excitement building for the release of the film and that buzz has helped ignite an event atmosphere at retail for the video game,” said Graham Hopper of Buena Vista Games.”

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe had recently been favourite to take the Christmas No.1 spot in the videogames chart, but the strong performance of EA’s Need for Speed: Most Wanted has made the racer the current favourite. Still, with 2 million units shipped to date and the movie yet to be released, Narnia looks to be an excellent performer for Buena Vista Games.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is out now on PC, PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance, and the movie is released Tomorrow here in the UK.
