Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is having a rough time at the moment, but Activision and Sledgehammer Games could be facing more issues when it comes to cheating in multiplayer. We’ve found there are aimbots that claim to get around the anti-cheat Ricochet system and can be picked up for as little as $8. We are not promoting this cheating software but are highlighting the issue in the hope that it can be addressed.

The cheating software, claims to have a built in ‘spoofer’ which makes it harder for anti-cheat mechanisms to detect it. There are already videos of this cheating software appearing online. These sort of cheats damage the game for everyone by giving those who use them a huge advantage. This usually comes in the form of far more precise aiming, meaning they’ll win matches easily and accrue points as the aimbot will target the enemy’s head.

Team Richochet, meanwhile, has been hard at work trying to eliminate cheaters from the game. It works by using machine learning, in combination with client and server-side systems, to detect foul play. “In short, Machine Learning helps us anticipate behavior better and operate with more effectiveness, with our team validating for accuracy,” the team writes on the official Team Ricochet website.

The good news is that we’re confident, in time at least, this hack will be found and removed. That’s because of the replay investigation tool – which allows the team to replay and investigate more than 700 replay clips in one day. “Some clips are easy: the most egregious “rage hacking” is simple to spot, but the Replay Investigation Tool was helpful to identify hackers who used tools to give them a slight advantage that was harder to spot in-game, such as wall hacks,” the Team Ricochet website reads. Sounds as though these cheaters’ days are numbered… but it will take some time.

Meanwhile, in MW3 zombies, there’s an unlimited sentry gun glitch that lets you farm XP. While not as damaging as cheating, it’s taken the community by storm.
