Modern Warfare 2’s second weekend beta is finally here – and with it comes a chance for those who haven’t pre-ordered the game to finally gets hands on.
We have already built out a number of Modern Warfare 2 weapons guides, including our personal favorite – the staggeringly good M4.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Modern Warfare 2 open beta second weekend.
MW2 Open Beta Schedule
For a reminder, the schedule that was mapped out by Infinity Ward went something like this:
- 16th September to 18th September: Early access for PS players – FINISHED
- 18th September to 20th September: Open beta for PS players – FINISHED
- September 22nd to September 23rd: Early access for Xbox and PC players (Weekend Two) – FINISHED
- September 23rd to September 26th: Open beta for all platforms (Weekend Two) – IN PROGRESS
We’ll be focusing on the last phase of the beta which Infinity Ward looks to bring everyone to the game, free of charge as the last couple days of the MW2 Open Beta.

MW2 Open Beta Start Time
The open beta kicked off on September 24 at 6PM BST or 10am PT.
PlayStation owners, don’t worry – open beta will stay available for you guys throughout the whole weekend! It will also support crossplay, so you’ll be able to play with Xbox and PC gamers.
The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta as a whole will then close at 6pm UK time (10am PT) on Monday, September 26.

How to download MW2 Open Beta faster
Here are some simple tips that could help you the download the MW2 Open Beta update faster:
- Make sure no other games are downloading / updating in the background
- Disable all apps that are not being used
- Disconnect other devices from Wifi if they’re not being used
- Ideally use ethernet connection
- If using Wifi make sure it’s not being hogged by your neighbours
- Use a fast VPN
If you’re playing Call of Duty for the first time across on console however, open access will be roughly 35 to 40 GB prior to playing, so make sure you have enough storage on your console to handle this!
MW2 Beta Rewards
As a reminder, Open Beta users will also be able to enjoy grabbing a plethora of rewards to unlock as you progress. Luckily if you’re on PlayStation and played last weekend, you only have an additional 15 levels to go through.
However if you’re just playing the game now or getting early access on Xbox and PC, you’ve got some grinding to do to get all of the locked content!
