We’re almost a week in, and Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer is seemingly as popular as ever. However, its launch week has not been without its problems.

There’s been an increasing number of players claiming that they’ve been banned from the game for no reason.

E-Sports reporter Jake Lucky first flagged up the problem this past weekend. claiming he’d received “hundreds of replies and DMs including from people I trust to not be cheating.”

In fact, things got to the point where one user decided to visit the Activision offices to try and get a response after having their ban appeal denied.

As reported by PC Gamer, the user shared their story on a since-deleted Reddit post. They claimed they were banned once, denied appeal and so set up a new email address and tried buying the game again.

However, this account was also banned – and he decided to take action by visiting the Activision offices nearby their home of Austin, Texas.

It should go without saying that this is definitely something you should not do, of course – as Aspyr’s Jacob Garcia put it: “Please don’t visit gamedevs in their offices. It doesn’t help and we fear for their safety.”

At any rate, they were met by a security guard who wouldn’t allow them access to the building, but did promise to relay their message to staff inside. However, the poster still didn’t hear back.

“The fact I can’t speak with someone at Activision Blizzard is very frustrating when I simply want to enjoy this game that I spent 140 dollars on.”

At the time of writing, neither Activision nor Infinity Ward have commented on an issue with any potential false bans just yet.

The game is using the latest version of the Ricochet anti-cheat service, but it’s understandable that there might be teething issues for the first couple of weeks. Hopefully, we’ll hear an update soon.
