A popular multiplayer FPS title like CoD frequently requires players to use their microphones in order to relay information to their teammates. However, this feature often becomes counterproductive when all you hear is pointless conversations and endless streams of bad music.

Although these issues with audio etiquette has long been a problem within the community, it seems that one player has finally reached the end of their rope after creating an instructional Reddit post on how to raise your mic threshold. According to the disgruntled user, doing this will stop you from “broadcasting background noise, music, etc.”

The thread in question was predictably met with an outpouring of support from a handful of equally annoyed individuals. However, some seem to think that there’s no point in telling others off anymore as this is “truly a hopeless cause.” This cynical portion of the community would go on to note that “the people that this is aimed at don’t care and their answer is for you to mute them.”

Other more optimistic players, though, have suggested different methods of remedying the situation. This includes implementing a ‘push to talk’ feature on console so that mics aren’t permanently turned on for PlayStation and Xbox users.

According to most of the comments being left below the previously mentioned Reddit thread, it seems that these prevalent audio issues are mainly being caused by PS5 players due to the built in microphone within the DualSense controller. Most people are apparently unaware of this feature, which is why random noises are often picked up periodically.

Hopefully, Activision and Infinity Ward can find an amicable solution that will fix this ongoing issue. But with so many other problems to address, the developers may leave this one on the back burner for now.
