Warner Bros Games has formally announced MultiVersus, a universe crossing brawler featuring an all star cast from a host of popular series.

The game will be a free-to-play offering, and will feature an “ever expanding” cast of fighters. We’re promised several online modes, including 2 vs 2 teams, 1 vs 1 duels and 4 player free-for alls. More modes will be added to MultiVersus as future updates. The game will also support cross-platform and cross progression.

Rumours of the game first surfaced back in October, and mentioned a bunch of characters that would be appearing. Indeed, the announcement confirms many of these names, with an initial 13 fighters revealed today. These include Batman, Shaggy from Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny, Harley Quinn, Finn the Human & Jake the Dog from Adventure Time and even Arya Stark from Game of Thrones.

Others on the roster include Tom & Jerry, Steven Universe, Wonder Woman, Superman, Garnet (from Steven Universe) and original character Reindog. In fact, some of these characters’ most familiar voice actors will provide their talents to their MultiVersus counterpart. For example, Matthew Lillard reprises his role as Shaggy and Kevin Conroy lends his brooding tones to Batman.

There’s no exact date for release yet, but Warner Bros have promised playtests before launch. Players have the chance to take part by signing up on the game’s official website. You can check out a trailer for MultiVersus for yourself down below, and read an FAQ of the game over here.

MultiVersus will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC in 2022.
