After a few weeks of speculation the MSI Claw has officially been announced by the Taiwanese manufacturer. Unlike its Windows-based competitors, this upcoming handheld PC is entirely Intel powered rocking the latest Meteor Lake processor complete with Intel Arc graphics baked onto the chip. No release date or price shared at this time.

The MSI Claw, officially dubbed the Claw A1M, features a 7-inch Full HD touchscreen display complete with a 120Hz refresh rate and is running on Windows 11 Home. It’s powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H chipset with integrated Intel Arc graphics and is running with LPDDR5-6400 memory. It also features leading connectivity options of Intel Killer BE Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 according to the specs sheet listed by MSI itself. It’s also bolstered by a 53Whr battery.

Described by the manufacturer as “a groundbreaking handheld gaming device that marks a new era in portable gaming experiences” the Claw has staked its faith all in on Team Blue instead of relying on AMD as we’ve seen from the ASUS ROG Ally and the Lenovo Legion Go. Whether this new machine can be considered one of the best handheld games consoles remains to be seen, especially when compared against the Steam Deck OLED, but if MSI can nail the price point and availability then the lead Valve has could narrow.

The Intel Core Ultra 7 1HH processor looks to be a good fit for the mobile form factor of the A1M Claw. Armed with six P-cores and a total of 10 E-cores (including two low power), there’s also the A.I. powered NPU with Intel XeSS supersampling included as well. The form factor appears to be more akin to the ASUS ROG Ally with the same screen size and more conventional controller grips than the Lenovo Legion Go.

We’ll be bringing you everything we know about the MSI Claw as more is revealed about the upcoming handheld gaming PC. Competition is fierce with many manufacturers throwing their hats into the ring, and we’ll let you know if it’s worth your time when we go hands on with a review later this year.
