Mortal Kombat 11 cross-platform play is being looked at, says NetherRealm

Mortal Kombat 11 developer NetherRealm Studios has confirmed that it is exploring the possibility of cross-platform play for the heart-ripping fighting game sequel.

That's according to WCCFTech, who quizzed game designer Derek Kirtzic on the subject during the Mortal Kombat 11 reveal event last week in London. While not going into detail, Kirtzic said that it's something the team are looking into and hope to achieve at some point.

Cross-platform play has obviously come a long way as of late, thanks to Sony finally opening up the floodgates to the feature on PlayStation 4. Fortnite was the first game to utilise cross-play, with other titles following soon after. Mortal Kombat 11 could conceivably join that list, right?

Mortal Kombat 11 is due for release on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on April 23, and from what I've played, it's shaping up rather nicely indeed
