In an interview with 1UP, a leading US videogames website, Game Design Section Manager at Sega Studio USA Takashi Iizuka and Sega Public Relations representative Ethan Einhorn revealed some details about their plans for Sonic.

Speaking about Shadow the Hedgehog Ethan commented that “this new title is one of a number of Sonic titles that you can anticipate in 2005,” clearing indicating that there are more games for this year yet to be revealed.

When talking about platforms Sonic will appear on, Takashi said that “The current philosophy behind what we’re building in our games is for all the current game systems.” 1UP mentioned that this includes the PSP.

The interview went on to hint at Sega possibly revealing a next-generation Sonic title at E3 with Takashi saying that “we’re hopeful to at least show you part of our progress at E3.” Ethan commented that Sonic may move into other genres, as he has in the past, and that Sega are keen to satisfy their fans, and know that a compilation including Sonic CD would go down very well. As long as this doesn’t mean Sonic Mega Collection Plus Extra, we can’t wait.
