As previously reported, Viva Piñata for Nintendo DS is a full-size Viva Piñata experience. Rare states that the game will feature all the Piñatas from the Xbox 360 game and then some, spicing things up for players already on first name terms with the established cast.

Players will be given completely free reign with an expanded selection of tools and tool actions, an upgraded Journal and Encyclopaedia, and brand new game modes: Sandbox, for full and easy access to the Piñatas; and Episodes, which tie in more closely to the TV series and allow fans to spend quality time with particular Piñatas.

The biggest change for existing Viva Piñata fans will most probably be the control scheme. The stylus and touch screen will be used to interact with the game, with players able to design, nurture, instruct, protect and care for their garden and animals through direct touch.

Rare also promises wireless functionality, although currently only details the ability to send Piñatas to friends.

The game sounds like a perfect match for the DS and expect lots more info over the coming months.
