We already had plenty of details for Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection on the Nintendo Switch 2, including its release date of March 13, 2026. A new trailer dropped as part of the Nintendo Partner Showcase has announced that you can download and play a free trial version of the game.

The free trial version will allow you to transfer your save data into the main game, so it will likely include the first few hours of the story, similar to how Metaphor ReFantazio put out a demo that would allow you to familiarise yourself with the nature of the game.

The Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection Trial Version has also been dropped on Steam, though without quite as much fanfare. Monster Hunter Stories 3 is also set to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so expect to see a free trial available there soon as well.

The new trailer showed off a little more of Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection’s story, set in the somewhat vague world of Monster Hunter, off in its own version of events. The gameplay, as opposed to the standard hunting of a Monster Hunter game, puts you more into something like Pokémon, where you capture, train, and fight alongside “Monsties.”

As well as just going around and fighting, you’re also working to save these monsters from extinction, as your conservation efforts work to restore habitats and maintain them. It’s got a little of that Pokémon Ranger charm, or like your work saving random animals in Death Stranding 2.

Plus, if you don’t want to just keep things digital, the demo trailer once again shows off the new Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection amiibo, including a couple of Rathalos and a named Palico, letting you literally take these monsters in your pocket.
