Capcom is releasing a demo for upcoming expansion Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, and it’ll be with us later tonight.

Last night’s Capcom Showcase also took the time to offer some more updates on what players can expect from Sunbreak. This includes the new Jungle biome, which makes its return from the second generation Monster Hunter games. Of course, a new environment wouldn’t be much without some new monsters to hunt within.

On that front, Capcom re-introduced us to Gore Magala who makes their return from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Another returning monster is Espinas the Thorn Wyvern who’s making their Western debut as their only previous appearance was the Japan-only MMO Monster Hunter Frontier. There’s also the Daimyo Hermitaur and the Pyre Rakna-Kadaki for those who like their monsters a little more bug-like.

Post launch updates were also a focus in the presentation, and just like the parent game fans can expect a bunch more content in the months ahead. The expansion’s first free title update will arrive in August, adding Lucent Nargacuga and several other monsters. More title updates, including rare species and new monsters, are scheduled for Fall and Winter of 2022, with more teased for 2023. Expect more on those in the coming months.

For eager fans wanting to get their hands on the expansion, a free Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak demo will be out later tonight. Capcom say it’ll be available from around 7pm PDT (or 3am UK time) on both Nintendo Switch and Steam.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak releases in full meanwhile on both those platforms on June 30.
