Capcom’s Monster Hunter is the latest game to get the Netflix anime treatment, with Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild landing on the streaming service in August.
The plot of the movie follows Aiden, a young man who sees himself as the protector of his isolated village until it’s threatened by an Elder Dragon. This causes Aiden to seek help from renowned hunter Julius and his friends who happen to be a members of the Hunters Guild, catapulting Aiden into the life of a Monster Hunter.
Funnily enough, Aiden isn’t just a character created for the Monster Hunter anime. According to the official synopsis, he’s actually the Ace Cadet from Monster Hunter 4 and the Excitable A-Lister in Monster Hunter World, and this movie acts as his origin story.
It’s the latest project in the ongoing partnership between Capcom and Netflix and comes just a few weeks following Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, which launched last week. It was also reported just yesterday that Netflix itself is rumoured to start offering games following the appointment of former EA and Oculus executive Mike Verdu.
