Wondering if the MW3 snake glitch works on the PS5? Call of Duty players have already started circulating hilarious clips online with keyboard and mouse players using the glitch. It seemed as though controllers couldn’t take advantage of it. But thanks to our resident Call of Duty specialist Jay, we’ve managed to crack the case.

Dubbed a ‘new movement meta’ by the community with tweets on X (formerly Twitter), snaking lets players go prone but move at the regular sprint speed. Visually, the player will appear to be sprinting in the prone position. Jay was wondering why this overpowered movement mechanic was exclusive to the PC. So he got to work and figured out how to achieve it on the PS5.

How to activate the MW3 Snake glitch on the PS5 in 4 steps

The Snake glitch can now be used in MW3 on the PS5 to catch up to the PC players. Note that this involves using a physical mouse. Here’s a step-by-step guide to enable the MW3 Snake glitch on the PS5:

  • Enable automatic sprint in the settings – While some players may prefer tactical sprint, you need to enable this setting for the Snake glitch to work.
  • Plug in a mouse to your PS5 – You read that right. Add a mouse to your PS5 via a USB port to access the keybind sections of the menu.
  • Edit stance down to mouse scroll up from the advanced keybinds – Head to the advanced keybinds in the movement menu and click stance down with your mouse. Then scroll up with the mouse wheel to save this to your PS5.
  • Push forward to sprint, then jump and scroll up on the mouse – This sequence of actions activates the Snake glitch. You only need to do this to start slithering about so it’s worth the effort. This lets you move at tactical sprint speed while being completely prone.

Is it worth using the MW3 Snake glitch on a PS5

While it certainly offers a competitive advantage, using the MW3 Snake glitch takes a while to set up. This means that you don’t have to worry about every person in a lobby zipping around like snakes. The chore of getting to this point is tiresome for most console players. But as Jay says, it’s a funny little glitch to take advantage of before it gets patched.

You are still vulnerable from the sides and the back while snaking

While you may feel all-powerful with this glitch, remember that enemy players can still shoot you. It’s easier from the sides since you’ll be a larger target on the floor.

And it most certainly will be patched in a while, both on PCs and consoles. While it’s wild to look at, making a target smaller and harder to shoot at isn’t ideal for developer Sledgehammer Games. I hope they leave it in for the holidays though.

That covers the MW3 Snake glitch for the PS5. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 might have had a controversial launch due to its campaign but its multiplayer component is as slick as ever. Use Jay’s mind-boggling mechanic to surprise your foes and level up fast in MW3. Here are our best guns in MW3 to use alongside this trick. The game is already out on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
