Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will run at 60 frames per second, as has been the case with all CoD games on current-gen consoles since (and including) Call of Duty 2, Infinity Ward’s creative strategist Robert Bowling has revealed.
“Absolutely, locked at 60 Frames Per Second. That is a core design principle for us and especially for #MW3,” Tweeted Bowling.
60fps is one of Call of Duty’s big selling points, with the high frame rate making the games smoother and more responsive than other titles that run at a more standard 30 frames per second.
Anyone who plays Call of Duty online will know how strange it feels to switch to another FPS that doesn’t run at 60fps – alternating between CoD: Black Ops and Halo: Reach is a great example. On another note, we very much doubt EA and DICE’s Battlefield 3 will run at 60fps on consoles.
