Activision has now dropped an exciting Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 launch trailer ahead of its release and aside from further confirming the return of the Shadow Company CEO, the preview also revealed the addition of a highly underrated Call of Duty 4 map in Strike.

Now, ever since the CoD publisher confirmed the Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Season 5 release date alongside an intriguing piece of key art, it’s been common knowledge that the campaign antagonist Graves would finally be making his way into the current series installment as a playable operator. This naturally excited a large portion of the player base as many had been asking for his addition to the game ever since the first season began.

However, now that the overhauled Strike map has been shown to the public, this has predictably taken over community discussions as numerous fans had also been asking for more map additions from previous installments. Although this isn’t the long-awaited Terminal or Scrapyard additions that Call of Duty 2023 will allegedly bring, fans were still predictably excited at the reveal as the revamped Strike’s familiar layout and structure introduces a nostalgic element that will surely have players wanting more.

Unfortunately, this new map may be arriving too late into the current installment’s life span as one commenter under a CharlieIntel post noted that “this would [have] been a sick map for competitive this year.” Alas, with the Call of Duty 2023 reveal event set to go live soon and its release looming large, there may not be enough time for players to fully enjoy these new offerings that have been inexplicably left until the last minute.
