Modern Warfare 2’s reintroduction of Shipment back in Season 1 Reloaded was initially met with a ton of acclaim as the compact, close-quarters map had long been one of the most popular locations in CoD’s entire history. Now that we’re well into the game’s lifespan, however, it seems some fans have grown quite spiteful towards this infamous map as many are now asking the developers to introduce a barebones version of Shipment that removes the use of lethal and tactical equipment as well as killstreaks.
Based on a Reddit post created by IncendiaryGamerX, they’ve apparently decided to suggest the addition of a “raw” version because they “don’t want a metric ton of explosives” thrown at them every few seconds when they’re simply “trying to get camo challenges done for guns.” “I get it, Shipment is all about chaos, but there is certainly a point where I can’t enjoy myself,” they continued.
Although the post creator was initially under the impression that this suggestion would be unpopular with the hardcore Modern Warfare 2 crowd, a handful of players have surprisingly posted comments showing their support for the addition of a barebones Shipment mode. A commenter named DanHarkinz said: “I’d be okay with this[.] [It] would be nice to just get f***ed in the ass by shotguns [but] not deal with the other sh*t for a bit.”
Clouty420 then added themselves on to the list of players that want a barebones Shipment mode by saying: “I also always thought that it would at least be interesting to play CoD like this. I don’t see why they didn’t add a playlist like that for like a week to try it out.” Automatic-Plenty-388, on the other hand, pointed out that “[the developers] did this in Vanguard with no killstreaks for Shoothouse. I wouldn’t trust the devs to break something else by adding this, though.”
With the release of Activision’s Call of Duty 2023 title only a handful of months away, however, the addition of a barebones Shipment mode to Modern Warfare 2, no matter how sought after, may not be a priority for the embattled developers. But with an alarming number of fans now starting to place their attention elsewhere, this type of fresh content could just help bring a much-needed influx of users to an installment that’s steadily bleeding players.
