Modern Warfare 2 beta owners claim to have found an FOV slider on PlayStation

It looks like Modern Warfare 2 will get an FOV slider on console, at least if reports from the beta are to be taken at face value.

Eager beavers who’ve already pre downloaded the beta on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 have dug into the settings, reports CharlieIntel on Twitter.

There, they’ve found a Field of View or FOV slider, as well as a third person field of view options. It’s an option most assumed would never come to console, so it’s significant if it winds up in the full release.

If you’re unfamiliar, an FOV slider determines how much of the screen you see in the game. Putting it higher often means you see more of the screen, but at the cost of a potential distortion of the image.

It’s long been a feature on PC, but has long been absent on console, usually down to hardware limitations. Increasing it can put a huge strain on the machine’s graphics hardware and decrease framerate.

Despite this, it has long been a fan request for the function to come to console. Perhaps IW has found a way it can mitigate the hardware strain, or maybe modern hardware has now caught up to the point it can be done. Regardless, if true this will be big news for fans.

In addition to this, others are also reporting mentions of a ‘Launcher’ system for Call of Duty. This could be related to how the game will fit with Warzone 2.0 and perhaps even the existing Warzone.
