Activision has today announced that Call of Duty’s anti-cheat software, Richochet, has managed to ban over 14,000 accounts for cheating in the last day alone on Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone. This news comes after the company’s continued push to hinder cheaters’ experience with the recent Modern Warfare entry and popular Battle Royale mode.
Taking to the Call of Duty Updates Twitter account, Activision said, “In the last 24 hours, new detections directly targeting cheat developers at the source has led to over 14,000 account bans for cheating and hacking in Modern Warfare II and Warzone.” Fans were notably delighted by this as previously Modern Warfare 2 players couldn’t wait for XDefiant to release as Season 4 was full of cheaters.
While this announcement is certainly a step in the right direction, Activision still has a long way to go when tackling its problem with cheaters. In particular, Warzone and Ranked lobbies have seen a large number of hackers in recent months. Players will be hoping that Activision’s continued work with the Richochet anti-cheat software will mean cheaters don’t dominate lobbies in a few years time. as is the case with a lot of older Call of Duty games a few years after their retirement.
Despite the old Xbox 360 Call of Duty servers getting fixed recently, hackers still plague a lot of those classic games. Needless to say, Activision has certainly been very vocal about its efforts to tackle cheaters in all game modes in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone.
