MindsEye has certainly been one of the games of the year. It’s been such a technical disaster that PlayStation has offered refunds, and already retailers have cut the game’s price down to just $20. While Build A Rocket Boy are promising to fix the game’s performance and catalogue of bugs, there are claims that MindsEye 2 is early-in-development with the developer also working on a game for a massive “TV show everyone knows”.
MindsEye 2 in development with game based on “TV show everyone knows”
Shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, highly-regarded Spanish YouTuber, BaityBait, has claimed that MindsEye developer, Build A Rocket Boy, is developing a game based on a massive license. There may be some inaccuracies with translation due to automatic captions, but the YouTuber reportedly said Build A Rocket Boy “have another secret project in development, with a very powerful license to a very big company and hasn’t been announced yet”.
It’s supposedly a “TV show everyone knows,” but BaityBait hasn’t revealed the IP as they were asked not to by anonymous devs in contact from Build A Rocket Boy. In addition to this mysterious “powerful license” belonging to a “big company,” BaityBait claims that MindsEye 2 is in early development.
A sequel to MindsEye is way less interesting than a supposed juggernaut TV show. There are no clues from BaityBait other than its alleged popularity, which immediately leads to predictions such as The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Boys etc.
It might be bad news regardless of the show thanks to Build A Rocket Boy’s reputation already being sullied, but it would perhaps be even worse if it is either Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead. Both of these licenses are crying out for a fantastic open-world RPG where you get to create your own character and make consequential choices, but both IPs have mostly received garbage. There are exceptions such as Telltale’s The Walking Dead and the upcoming War of Westeros revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025, but both IPs have not come anywhere near reaching their full potential in the field of video games.
As for MindsEye 2, if it ever sees the light of day, it needs to be a sequel with massive improvements. Away from the drove of bugs, the biggest issue with MindsEye is that it is sparse and boring. There’s nothing to do in the world, there are bizarre limitations, especially with the game spearheaded by ex-GTA lead, Leslie Benzies, and it’s just woefully shallow. Build A Rocket Boy can fix the bugs, but the game will not be a repeat of Cyberpunk 2077 as MindsEye doesn’t have good foundations.
In other gaming news, former PlayStation president, Shuhei Yoshida, has said an upcoming PS Plus day-one release is his “favorite game”.
