Speaking to MCV following Midway’s 2008 Gamers’ Day in Las Vegas, International Executive Vice President Martin Spiess has revealed that the publisher is looking into ways to turn the successful Stranglehold video game into a franchise.

Asked if Midway could see the game becoming a franchise, Spiess said: “That’s actually a discussion we’re having internally right now. I think we have built a great level of brand equity with Stranglehold and that’s something we shouldn’t give up on.”

Spiess continued: “We are looking into various possibilities in order to sequelise the franchise. News will be announced soon in regards to it.”

Stranglehold was certainly a great start for a franchise, offering impressive visuals and some great action set pieces. It was a fairly short-lived experience but this didn’t stop the game being awarded a commendable 8/10.
