Former Rockstar Games developer Tom Shepherd has joined Microsoft's rapidly-swelling team at The Initiative.

Shepherd has worked on a number of major titles at Rockstar over the years, including Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption. In addition, he also cut his teeth on the likes of Max Payne 3, Midnight Club 3, and Midnight Club Remix during his 11-year career with the industry giant.

There's no word yet on what role Shepherd will be assuming at The Initiative, although it could be the opening for Technical Director listed on the company's website.

Microsoft has been busy hoovering up major talent since The Initiative was unveiled back at E3. It previously snapped up Christian Cantamessa (writer on Red Dead Redemption), Brian Westergaard (lead producer on God of War), as well as Dan Neuburger and Blake Fischer, previously of Crystal Dynamics and Microsoft, respectively.

The format holder also revealed at E3 that it has acquired a number of key studios under its umbrella, including Forza Horizon creator Playground Games and DmC: Devil May Cry developer Ninja Theory.

Given that The Initiative has just been established there's no word yet on what it's working on, but we'll be sure to keep you posted.
