The PC version of Metro: Last Light is “one of the best-looking games that you can play today”, the game’s global brand manager Huw Beynon has claimed, adding that developer 4A Games has “absolutely stretched” the capabilities of current-generation consoles.
Demonstrating the game to VideoGamer.com last week, Beynon said that Deep Silver is “incredibly proud of the technical achievement behind Metro.
“I think for a current-generation console game at the end of the cycle we’ve absolutely stretched it. We’ve managed to get a lot of the phenomenal tech afforded by the 4A Engine – our dynamic lighting and realistic physics etc. – into the 360 version. I think it looks as good as any multiformat 360 game out there.”
But according to Beynon, “the PC [version] is an order of magnitude again. I think it’s probably one of the best-looking games that you can play today, period.”
Beynon’s comments follow similar words from Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli who, back in December, claimed that “no game will ever look technically better than Crysis 3 on [current-gen] consoles, flat out.
“Most games are not even anywhere near Crysis 2 technically,” said Yerli. “I’m not talking about art style – art is subjective – but the pure fact of what we have been cramming in with Crysis 2 on Xbox [360] and PlayStation [3], I’ve yet to see a game do that still today.”
