Metal Gear Survive is out now for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, and already eagle-eyed players have spotted what appears to be a hidden message from the development team tucked away in the game’s opening moments.

Booting up Survive will require you to cobble together your in-game character, after which you are treated to a shot of a clipboard featuring yourself and a number of other soldiers. Sounds normal enough, right? Well, maybe not.

A number of users on Reddit have twigged that the first letters of some of the names seemingly spell out a cheeky reference to Kojima Productions, the former developer behind the venerable stealth-action franchise (shown on the list as ‘KJP forever’).

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also mention of Yota Tsutsumizaki and Yuji Korekado, who server as director and producer on Survive respectively, with the names ‘Bastard Yota’ and ‘Cunning Yuji.’ Curiously, both are also listed as AWOL.

In related news, Konami announced that Metal Gear Survive is getting a new cooperative mode next month, although we’re still a little sour from news that the game charges you from an extra character slot.
