Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is receiving a full remake in later this year. Slated to release on August 25, 2025, the new Unreal Engine 5 remake aims to be the most faithful remake of Kojima’s PS2 masterpiece, even including its more risqué elements.
However, prior to the game’s release, Konami will release a brand-new Metal Gear Solid Production Hotline episode to discuss the future of the stealth-action series. While no details have been teased, we could see more than just the Snake Eater remake in this upcoming episode.
Metal Gear Solid Production Hotline returns
Announced on Twitter by Konami, the next Metal Gear Solid Production Hotline returns on June 13, 2025 at 8PM Japan Standard Time. Releasing on YouTube, the next entry in the online webshow will discuss ongoing plans for the franchise.
“This program will feature the latest information about the “Metal Gear” series delivered by the creators themselves,” reads the official description for the episode by Konami. The new show will have more information on the upcoming Snake Eater remaster, and teases for future plans.
Konami has already expressed an interest in remaking more titles in the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Hopefully, the studio will create an extensive remake of the original MGS game that makes some stark improvements, making a true modern take on the original story with re-recorded voice lines and motion captured cutscenes.
Additionally, there are reportedly plans for a Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, which will presumably include MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots, Peace Walker, The Phantom Pain and some spin-off titles.
Of course, unlike the Volume 1 release, the more modern releases of the stealth series need a lot more work to come to modern platforms, especially Nintendo Switch 2. For example, MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots was designed around the PS3’s weird Cell Processor architecture which will require a tonne of work to port to new machines.
