Hideo Kojima has revealed new insight into MGS5: The Phantom Pain’s multiplayer component.

First, players will be able to customise their own offshore HQ’s using their smart devices, or in the game itself.

“People who want to create a Mother Base in a very detailed way will be able to design it through the interface, or using their smart device,” Kojima told CVG.

“I cannot talk too much,” he added, “but for people who saw the presentation, it ends with your Mother Base being attacked. People can infiltrate you, and you can infiltrate other people’s Mother Base.”

Kojima’s quotes regarding infiltrations and the ability for other players to invade your game is reminiscent of the multiplayer seen in Watch Dogs, where players are able to invade your world at any given time and begin to hack you.

There’s still no official release date for Phantom Pain, though Kojima recently hinted the game may launch in early 2015.
