Rockstar’s Max Payne 3 will include multiplayer support, but fans of story will be pleased to hear that this side of the game will take elements from single-player.

Speaking to Variety, Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser said that “multiplayer will have a lot more detail and have elements of story in it”.

“We wanted to put some elements of single player into the multiplayer so the multiplayer will have a lot more detail and have elements of story in it and have a sort of an immersive quality,” he said.

“Just because those elements of the game live outside of the campaign, it doesn’t mean they’re not part of the narrative,” he added. “We think that’s something that is underexplored in multiplayer.”

Just how elements of single-player will be tied into the multiplayer portion of the game remains to be seen. If Rockstar can pull it off it will give the game a chance to break into the market dominated by the likes of Call of Duty, Battlefield and Halo.
