Marvel Snap fans rejoice, for the Shuri nerf is finally here and we don’t have to struggle against 24+ power Red Skulls anymore.

Well, not quite – we’ll get into the specifics in a moment, but this patch has done way more than just nerf public enemy number one by also buffing Leader. Who, if you remember, was the last public enemy number one until he got nerfed into oblivion. Thankfully, this also comes alongside a nerf to both Leech and Lockjaw, so the most infuriating Thanos decklist is also no longer.

Marvel Snap April patch nerfs

Shuri is still a 4/2, but the next card you play must be at the same location as Shuri to receive the double power buff. What this means is that non-priority Shang-Chis can be aimed much more accurately, as can Valkyrie as a counter, or you can plop Professor X down on a different lane to secure it, knowing where your opponent will probably play.

However, that’s not all – Leech is still a 5/3, but now only removes the abilities from cards in your opponent’s hand at the start of turn six. So he can’t be cheated out with a Lockjaw and Wasp on turn three, removing your combo before the halfway point. Lockjaw also has been nerfed slightly, as you can now only cycle one card through your deck per turn, rather than dropping multiple in one go.

Marvel Snap April patch buffs

So this will shake up the meta massively – but what about the buffs? Well, it’s hard to tell whether these will be buffs or nerfs, but changes have come to both America Chavez and Jubilee, two very inoffensive cards in the current state of the game.

America Chavez now reads: “Starts on the bottom of your deck. Draw this on turn six.” This differs from previously, when she’d often be at the top of your deck and thus destroyed by Yondu. Jubilee also now specifically pulls the top card from your deck to this location, rather than a random card, which the developers have said is because they’re “looking to design cards that interact with the top of your deck in the future”, which means we’ll have lots more Jubilee synergy coming.

Finally, perhaps the biggest surprise of this patch is that Leader has been buffed. His previous nerf was necessary, but it did make him essentially unplayable, and now he is statted as a 6/2 instead of a 6/7, and copies the enemy card(s) with the highest power played this turn but on your side. Much closer to his original ability, but not quite as ridiculous.

This patch also brings changes to the Token Shop, where newly released Series 5 cards will be immediately featured in their own section, allowing players to nab the new cards immediately for 6,000 tokens, rather than waiting for it to appear in their shop. Ultimate Variants also have their own section on rotation now, and then there’s a third section for Series 4 and 5 cards to rotate between any you don’t already own.

Overall, a very meaty patch indeed, and at the time of writing there’s no official link to the Marvel Snap website, but MarvelSnapZone have covered the full patch notes – including bug fixes. In the meantime, check our guide on the 7 Best Cards In Marvel SNAP to Help You Win.
