Season 3 of Marvel Rivals will introduce many new features and changes. It’s scheduled to come out on July 11, and despite being more than a week away, NetEase has already revealed some of the content coming with it.
Phoenix will join the impressive roster, becoming the 40th hero in the game, while Blade will arrive later on. Additionally, many Marvel Rivals heroes will receive buffs and nerfs on the first day of the new season.
The upcoming update will be massive, so let’s take a look at some of the biggest changes coming in Season 3!
Biggest changes coming to Marvel Rivals in Season 3
MVP animations are no longer locked
Right now, MVP animations are somewhat odd. While they look cool, it’s impossible to equip them with every skin. For example, Thor’s “Love and Thunder” MVP animation can only be used with the skin bundled with it. However, the upcoming update will change this, allowing you to equip the animation with any other skin the hero has.
Balance changes
The upcoming Marvel Rivals season will bring numerous buffs and nerfs, completely changing the meta. Some of the worst-performing heroes, such as Invisible Woman, will receive a buff, while others will have their effectiveness reduced.
These changes will make the game more fair and will also force players to adapt their playstyles. The hero shooter will certainly feel different with some characters coming into the rotation and others dropping out of it.
Free skin trials
Season 3 will bring free skin trials to Marvel Rivals. This program will offer college students a unique opportunity to use 10 skins and MVP animations for a limited time. Initially, students from a few countries will have access to this program, including the US and the UK. However, NetEase will work to expand the program globally and make it available in more regions.
Signing up for a free skin trial is straightforward and only requires verification through a student e-mail address.
New types of cosmetic items
Once Season 3 comes out, Marvel Rivals will release special effects for ultimate abilities. These are new cosmetics that can modify ultimate abilities and make them look different. NetEase revealed that they will be sold for Unstable Molecules, the same currency used for color customization.
Besides ultimate ability customization, the Marvel Rivals developer will also release accessories. These will be small charms that can be equipped to characters and weapons, and they will also be sold in the in-game shop.
New heroes
On the first day of the new season, the Marvel Rivals developer will release Phoenix, a new Duelist. Phoenix’s abilities have already been leaked, and NetEase has revealed that she will have a Team-Up ability with Wolverine, giving Logan damage over time and lifesteal.
Later in the season, Blade will join the lineup as the 41st hero. Considering that the plan is to release a new hero every month, we expect the vampire hunter to arrive by mid-August.
New interface elements
NetEase will release numerous quality-of-life and design changes on July 11. The post-game screen will be redesigned, giving better insight into game performance, as well as quest progress, milestones, and other important info.
Furthermore, skins will now have unique lobby backgrounds. For example, Spider-Man will have a Future Foundation background while having the skin of the same name equipped.
Free skin
Finally, the new Marvel Rivals season will bring a new free skin. This time, Storm is getting a Symbiote skin. The new skin for the weather-controlling mutant will be available during a new event, which will likely last at least two weeks.
