Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 release has finally arrived, and it brings tons of new content to the game, including new features, such as players can now use six sprays in the game, as well as emojis to express themselves on the battlefield. The game’s comprehensive customisation possibilities, which allow players to personalize their heroes with 178 costumes and 4 chromas, have been a major lure for the game’s dedicated community.
These cosmetics, which range from rare recolors to legendary-tier skins with cinematic intros and distinctive sound effects, allow players to express themselves. The addition of outfit color palette swaps in Season 2 increased personalization, responding to player requests for more creative flexibility.
However, players have also expressed their need for further methods to personalize their experience. Suggestions like health bars, rearview cameras for Vanguards, and dynamic lobby interfaces have provoked heated debate, with one concept finding traction: changeable lobby backgrounds. A suggestion provided by a Reddit user suggested skin-specific backdrops for heroes such as Moon Knight and Black Panther. This fan-driven suggestion sparked enough interest that devs took note, and they are now on their way to making it a reality.
Marvel Rivals leak reveals upcoming custom lobby background feature
A fresh leak concerning Marvel Rivals has piqued fans’ interest, showcasing a potential new feature that allows players to modify lobby backgrounds based on their chosen character skins. According to RivalsInfo on X, this feature is currently in development. It allows for dynamic lobby backgrounds that reflect the design of the equipped skin, such as an Ultron-themed backdrop for Ultron skin users.
As seen in the leak, preliminary photos of the feature have surfaced, displaying visually appealing designs associated with individual heroes. For example, a Psylocke skin may display a butterfly-themed lobby, whilst a Hulk skin may convert the background into smashing graffiti. This customisation would give flair to the pre-game experience, responding to community complaints regarding the present static blue/grey/white lobby.
While NetEase has not officially acknowledged the functionality, the leak is consistent with their strategy of frequent updates to keep Marvel Rivals entertaining. The game has already received considerable updates since its release, including new characters like Ultron and maps like K’un-Lun, which were hinted at for Season 3. If built, changeable lobby backdrops could be released with the next significant upgrade, either alongside the Season 3 launch in July or another update in the future.
