In what looks to be a very sudden and sad end for fans of the free-to-play title Marvel Heroes, today the official Twitter account has confirmed that the servers for the game are to be shut down with immediate effect.

Confirming earlier reports of the studio’s closure via Twitter, the post mentions that although they had originally intended to keep the game running until the end of the year, sadly this will no longer be possible and the game will be ‘sunset’ (points if that word is on your closure-lingo bingo card) immediately.

It’s a sad state of affairs for the game, which only recently saw a release on Xbox One and PS4 earlier this year after a few years on PC. We wish all affected employees the best of luck and hope they find new jobs soon.
