Nintendo has announced that Mario will be fronting a brand new tennis game for the Switch later this year. Mario Tennis Aces is due out in spring 2018 and is the first entry in the series since Mario Tennis on the Gameboy Advance to feature its own dedicated story mode.

Announced during Nintendo Direct this afternoon, Mario Tennis Aces promises yet more intense matches against a variety of fan-favorite characters, and will feature various new ‘wrinkles’ in the series’ core gameplay to keep you on your toes.

As mentioned, the title will feature a story mode which packs in a number of new distractions, such as boss battles and missions, offering what Ninty calls a ‘new flavor of tennis gameplay.’ Mario Tennis Aces is being worked on by Camelot, who have produced a variety of sports titles starring the plucky plumber over the years.
