Madden 23: Weeks 16 and 17 TOTW

The NFL 2022 regular season has officially come to an end, concluding what was yet another special chapter in the history books of the league. To celebrate the final few weeks of the regular season, Madden 23 has returned with its Team Of The Week Program (TOTW), providing a stacked variety of new players for the fans.

The Weeks 16 and 17 TOTW reveal took place today at 10:30AM ET / 3:30PM GMT on the first ‘Good Morning Madden’ Twitch live stream of the new year. After taking a holiday break from the TOTW Program since December 20th, 2022, Madden 23 has returned with its latest set of TOTW players, presenting us with some of the best players in MUT right now.

Though the NFL regular season has come to a close, Madden 23 will be having one more TOTW reveal next Tuesday, January 17th, 2023 for the Week 18 regular season games.

Without further ado, here’s the full list of new players from the Madden 23 Weeks 16 & 17 TOTW that are set to be released in-game later today (targeted for 4PM ET / 9PM GMT).

Offensive Players Of The Week (96 Overall)

As a result of celebrating two different game weeks of NFL regular season football in one drop, Madden 23 will have two Offensive Players of the Week; one from Week 16 and the other from Week 17.

Here are the two offensive standouts Madden 23 chose to honor for the Weeks 16 & 17 TOTW selection:

1. George Kittle (TE) – 49ers – Week 16

In the San Francisco 49ers triumphant 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 16, Kittle himself a special performance, catching six of his eight targets for 120 yards and two touchdowns. The man could not be stopped and Madden 23 felt it was only just to have him as their Week 16 Offensive Player of the Week.

2. Daniel Jones (QB) – Giants – Week 17

The New York Giants were a win shy from clinching the playoffs heading into Week 17, and many were looking towards Daniel Jones to lead the charge offensively against a team the Giants were supposed to beat. Well, lo and behold, Jones delivered, and did so in a major way. In the New York Giants 38-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts, Jones completed 79.2% of his 24 pass attempts for 177 yards and two touchdowns, and ran with the ball 11 times for 91 yards and an additional two touchdowns. Jones proved his worth in a big way and deserves to be the Week 17 Offensive Player of the Week.

Defensive Players Of The Week (96 Overall)

Just like the Offensive Players of the Week, Madden 23 revealed two Defensive Players of the Week today as well, one for Week 16 and one for Week 17.

These are the two defenders Madden 23 chose for the Weeks 16 & 17 TOTW:

1. Cobie Durant (CB) – Rams – Week 16

In the Los Angeles Rams Week 16 51-14 win over the Denver Broncos, Durant stepped up and delivered a big time performance. Though Durant only had one tackle on the day, he did come away with two interceptions, one of which was a pick six that he returned 85-yards to the house. His pick six was the final touchdown of the Rams onslaught, capping off what was one dominant victory.

2. Kyle Dugger (SS) – Patriots – Week 17

The New England Patriots fought hard this season despite their playoff shortcomings. And a big reason why they were so good, was because of their elite defense. This was on full display in Week 17 for safety Kyle Dugger, who had five combined tackles, two passes defended, and a game changing pick six he returned for 39-yards in the Patriots 23-21 win over the Miami Dolphins. His clutch play influenced the outcome of the game and this Defensive Player of the Week honor for Dugger was well-earned.

Limited Editions (96 Overall)

Dating back to the Week 7 TOTW reveal, Madden 23 now releases two Limited Edition (LTD) players fans can acquire, one offensive and one defensive.

These LTDs are always active NFL players that produced special performances in previous seasons on the same game week(s) that Madden 23 is celebrating in MUT.

However, because Madden 23 honored two NFL game weeks today, they included four LTD players this time around. Here’s the four LTDs that were selected for the Weeks 16 and 17 TOTW:

1. Michael Thomas (WR) – Saints – Week 16
2. Micah Hyde (FS) – Bills – Week 16
3. T.Y. Hilton (WR) – Colts – Week 17
4. Justin Houston (LOLB) – Chiefs – Week 17

Champions (96 Overall)

1. Shaun Alexander (HB) – Seahawks – Week 16
2. Terrell Suggs (LOLB) – Ravens – Week 16
3. Tim Brown (WR) – Raiders – Week 17
4. Darrelle Revis (CB) – Jets – Week 17

Heroes (93 Overall)

Over the last three months of the TOTW Program, Madden 23 has been having Fantasy Football Analyst Matthew Berry select a Hero every week.

For those that don’t know, Berry’s Madden 23 Heroes come with two versions. One is always the rating of a Hero (so 93 overall) and the other is a BND version (a 88 overall) that you can unlock by completing in-game challenges.

Upon collecting all of Berry’s premium Hero players (so the 89, 90, 91, 92, 93 overall versions), you will receive an exclusive player reward. Fans will receive that player reward once the Matthew Berry Hero edition concludes, which was today.

With that in mind, here’s all of the previous Matthew Berry Heroes you’ll need to collect in order to earn the exclusive reward:

For Weeks 16 and 17, Berry chose Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers (Week 16) and Marshon Lattimore (Week 17) as his final two Heroes of the Matthew Berry TOTW Edition.

Should you collect all ten of Berry’s previous Heroes, plus his two new ones (so 12 in total), you will be able to unlock the following Matthew Berry Player Of The Year, Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler illustrated in the photo above.
