The popular Lumines franchise is to be released for the PlayStation Network this autumn, complete with all-new content only available to PS3 owners.

Lumines Supernova from Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Q Entertainment combines the series’ classic elements of block falling and music and introduces all-new skins and a bunch of new game modes.

Players will have 40 skins available in challenge mode, including some which are exclusive to the PS3. Additionally PSN players will get two new game modes: Dig Down (clearing squares which have already been placed on the playfield) and Sequencer (create your own background music using the sound loops provided in the Sound Bank).

Skin Edit mode allows players to customise their Lumines experience by creating playlists with their favourite skins, Time Attack challenges players to erase as many blocks as possible in a given amount of time, and Puzzle / Mission mode requires players to quickly use the falling blocks to create shapes / designs and clear the playfield in just a few moves. Players will also be able to go up against a friend in two-player battles.

Lumines Supernova is scheduled for release on PSN this autumn.
