Announced late in the hours of last night- Linus Sebastian, of the eponymous YouTube channel, will be stepping away from his CEO role at the Linus Media Group.

The announcement came from Linus himself, who posted a YouTube video titled “I’m Stepping Down…” late last night.

However – before anyone starts to miss Linus, he’s not leaving the channel. If anything, he’s suggested he’s going to have more time to be in videos now, having forsaken many of the administrative duties that once tied him down.

In the video, Linus states that “If I try to drag myself through another 10 years of business administration I know I’m gonna destroy myself, and probably end up killing the company and community that I love so much in the process.”

The Linus Media Group, which runs the Linus Tech Tips channel alongside Creator Warehouse and Floatplane Media, will be spearheaded by a new CEO: Terren Tong, Linus’ former boss at NCIX.

The video also reveals that Linus and the rest of the Linus Media Group previously rejected an $100m offer to buy the company – which suggests that Linus stepping down as CEO was not hostile at all.

We’re going to be eagerly anticipating more news and updates regarding Linus’ departure from the CEO role at the LMG, and we’ll be sure to update this page as new news comes in.
