Hideo Kojima is arguably the most beloved creator in the video games industry. This year alone we’ve been treated to the excellent Death Stranding 2, and we’ve also recently been able to enjoy Metal Gear Solid Delta which is a truthly faithful remake of Kojima’s masterpiece. The video game auteur has already laid out his plans for the future, and an upcoming Kojima Productions celebratory event will provide a “glimpse into future projects” from the studio.
Kojima Productions event will provide “glimpse into future projects”
A Kojima Productions event celebrating 10-years of the studio is scheduled to take place on September 23rd. It will take place at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills, Tokyo, Japan, but, for everyone not in Japan, there will be a livestream with details set to be announced at a later date.
There is the tease of “special guest appearances,” which could be any one of the many celebrity friends Kojima has collaborated with in the past. However, the most exciting tease is undoubtedly a “glimpse into future projects”.
The two projects we know Kojima Productions officially have planned for after Death Stranding 2 are OD and Physint. OD is said to be a horror game in collaboration with Jordan Peele, which is very exciting as we only got a tease of what Kojima is capable of in the world of horror with the incredible P.T. demo. As for Physint, it is a return to the espionage genre ala Metal Gear Solid.
We don’t expect to see trailers for either of these games, but we are looking forward to the possibility of more details along with perhaps shared updates on how development is progressing.
While OD and Physint are both exciting prospects, Kojima has hinted that they may be his last two games before taking a break to venture into Hollywood. The Metal Gear Solid creator is determined to make a movie for the big screens, but he is aware that right now he cannot leave Kojima Productions without a captain, but he is also wary of leaving things too late to make a Hollywood movie with limitations such as age on his mind.
In other Kojima news, he has confirmed that he will not play Metal Gear Solid Delta, and he has also discussed his aspirations to make a game in space.
