It’s official: The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes are Metal Gear Solid 5. Kojima Productions boss Hideo Kojima has finally ended speculation about the two games, revealing that they together make up the next Metal Gear Solid title.

Kojima’s GDC presentation began with his head in bandages as he attempted to mimic the faked Moby Dick Studio CEO Joakim Mogren. Moby Dick, if you were going along with the story being fed to us, was developing The Phantom Pain.

A trailer for Metal Gear Solid 5 was shown, with the six-minute showcase featuring footage from both Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. Kojima then proceeded to show a demo of the game being played on a PC in real time, although no other platforms were mentioned. Previously the game has been touted as a game coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 as well as PC, but there’s been no official talk of the game arriving on next-gen consoles too.
