More ‘old game shutting down online services‘ news today, as developer Guerrilla Games has announced that the servers for Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 are to finally be ‘decommissioned’ on March 29, 2018.

The games are pretty old, with Killzone 2 releasing as far back as 2009 (how is that nearly ten years ago?) and Killzone 3 back in 2011 both for the PlayStation 3, but it says something that people were still apparently playing those games for this long.

In the full statement, Guerrilla said that single player will not be affected in any way, but ‘online play and any related functionality’ will no longer work. They also stated that they were ‘grateful we are for all the support and feedback we’ve received from the community over the last eight years.’

These days Guerrilla’s focus appears to be very much on Horizon Zero Dawn which recently saw its expansion Frozen Wilds get released. The base game was already excellent as per our review, but will it make it into our GOTY? Better keep your eye on Videogamer.com to find out.
