Speaking with IGN about his role as Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid 5, Sutherland said: “I did Mortal Kombat, and that’s such a huge game, but it’s so not like [MGS5].”

Sutherland didn’t offer any clues as to when he was involved in the project or what role he plays, but said that his role was over “pretty quickly compared to [MGS5]”.

The last Mortal Kombat game released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, and launched on PS Vita and Windows in the years that followed.

Neither Warner Bros. or NetherRealm have yet announced plans for the future of the series.
