Austin Wintory, the composer of the critically acclaimed Journey and The Banner Saga, is writing the score for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Ubisoft has announced.
The Grammy-nominated writer says he was “immediately excited by the prospect” of penning the soundtrack, and has written over three hours of music for the open world game.
Wintory calls himself a “long-time player of the franchise,” and says his composition will contain a running theme, titled Bloodlines, that explores the relationship between the central characters, and twins, Jacob and Evie. It’s unclear whether this reveals a connection between Syndicate and the 2009 PSP exclusive Assassins Creed: Bloodlines.
In an interview on the Ubi Blog, Wintory also talks about the industry as a whole. “Culturally we’re seeing a lot of growth, and therefore also the attendant growth pains. The industry is struggling with identity right now, and inclusiveness, but I am hopeful that our tent is widening, and our creativity deepening. And I’m happy to say that I don’t believe that hope is based on purely wishful thinking either. I see inspiring people working in every corner, from Ubisoft to the smallest indies.”
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate launches on PS4 and Xbox One on October 23, and for PC on November 19. You can Pre-order Assassin’s Creed Syndicate now from Amazon.
