Ubisoft has officially announced Zombi, a PS4, Xbox One and PC port of 2012 Wii U horror ZombiU due to arrive digitally on August 18.

The new port is being developed by Straight Right, the same team behind the Wii U version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut, and is said to have been optimised for PS4, Xbox One and PC to “bring gamers to a new level of horror”.

Quite how Ubisoft plans to take advantage of the new platforms isn’t yet clear, however, although we’ve checked in with the publisher to ask whether players should expect an improved frame rate and resolution. [UPDATE: A Ubisoft spokesperson has told VideoGamer.com that it should hopefully have more information on that soon.]

We also don’t know how the developer has gotten around the original version’s GamePad functionality, which used the second screen to manage the player’s inventory and display a mini-map of the surrounding area.

The game will not receive a physical retail release.

Confirmation follows weeks of speculation over the PS4 and Xbox One port after the game was certified by multiple ratings boards.

The game sees players attempting to survive a zombie apocalypse in London, with permadeath respawning players as a new character every time they die. To check out the first screenshots of the PS4, Xbox One and PC version, head through here.
