Fuse, a four-person cooperative action shooter, will be released in March 2013, developer Insomniac and publisher EA have announced.

Formerly titled Overstrike, Fuse allows gamers to play as Dalton Brooks, Izzy Sinclair, Jacob Kimble or Naya Deveraux as they fight to protect mankind from a deadly alien energy source known as Fuse.

“Fuse demonstrates what Insomniac does best: outlandish and gruesome weapons design, over-the-top action and a touch of humour,” said Insomniac Games’ founder and CEO, Ted Price. “We’re especially excited to see how players utilize lethal teamwork by combining their Fuse weapons to stop a deadly arms race.”

Although a cooperative action game, solo players will be able to experience the unique attributes of each agent by using the LEAP feature to switch between the four characters at will during combat.

Sadly there’s no trailer just yet, as Price explains.

“We had an awesome trailer planned and finished. Unfortunately a last-minute legal-rights issue has prevented us from releasing the trailer as planned,” said Price. “EA is trying to obtain the necessary approvals and we hope to bring the trailer to you soon. After discussing internally, we wanted to stop the countdown and explain what happened.”
