Known Pokémon leaker Khu has hinted that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen will return, sharing both games’ artwork on their X (formerly Twitter) account. Their prediction comes just two weeks before Pokémon Day 2026, hinting that the remakes could be returning soon.
While Khu hasn’t backed up the cryptic claim with any solid evidence, they’re respected by Pokémon fans, and their claims have come true in the past. However, we’d urge everyone to take this rumor with a pinch of salt until formally confirmed.
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen were part of the third generation of Pokémon games and served as Game Boy Advance remakes of the original, Gen 1, Pokémon Red and Blue. The original games had a Green version in Japan, and this was the remake version that the West also received.
Back to where it all began

The remakes offered a colorful and fully redesigned version of Kanto with updated graphics and added various new features, such as running shoes, that had previously been used in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. The games remain the definitive experience for those looking to replay the original Pokémon adventures.
However, Gen 1 was remade again on the Nintendo Switch as Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee. However, not everyone considers these games a faithful remake due to them incorporating mechanics from Pokémon Go when it came to catching ‘mons, rather than traditional battling.
Ku’s claim could relate to another Gen 1 remake, but it’s more likely referring to Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen being added to the Switch 2 as digital titles, something fans have been calling for for some time. Of course, it could also mean absolutely nothing.
