An Infinity Ward job posting suggests the developer is looking to ready Call of Duty for next-gen consoles.

A current vacancy for a senior animator at Infinity Ward is looking for somebody with “an interest in working with next-generation technologies.”

The job doesn’t go into specifics about what the supposed next-gen contains, which is a shame because it would make this story a lot juicier if Infinity Ward had written what the next Xbox machine is actually going to be called.

While there’s plenty of rumours, let’s not forget that Nintendo’s Wii U – which Activision has pledged to support – is a next-gen platform due for a 2012 release.

While Activision hasn’t announced anything more than the existence of a new Call of Duty title for 2012, the franchise’s yearly rotation leads most people to believe this year’s game will be developed by Black Ops developer Treyarch – so does this mean Infinity Ward is gearing up for a next-gen Call of Duty in 2013?
