Crytek has announced Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, a new third-person multiplayer game for PC and consoles from Crytek USA headed up by former Vigil co-founder David Adams.

Hunt sees up to four players band together to fend off an onslaught of bloodthirsty creatures and track down bosses. The game will be published by Crytek as part of their Games-as-a-Service range, suggesting it could be a free-to-play title.

David Adams, CEO of Crytek USA Corp., commented: “In Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, players will be counting their bullets and crying out for help as they delve deeper into the shadowy world we’ve created. From the outset of the development process, we’ve poured our imaginations into the game so that everyone who plays Hunt will discover a challenging experience that feels fresh, captivating and rich in possibilities.”

The game is set in the late 1800s and puts players into a world where evil is lurking just beyond the fringes of day-to-day life. A content generation system promises to ensure players never encounter exactly the same environment or set of enemies twice.

A closed beta is scheduled to launch on PC later this year. Sign up for a chance to take part over on the game’s official website. Look out for more on the game at E3.
