A brand-new update is coming to Silent Hill 2, adding PS5 Pro support to PlayStation’s best exclusive of the year. Alongside new updates to Black Ops 6 and a host of other games, Silent Hill 2 will benefit from improved visuals and performance on Sony’s new console.

Silent Hill 2 PS5 Pro Enhanced

While not officially confirmed by Bloober Team, Konami or PlayStation, the Silent Hill 2 page on the PlayStation Store reveals that an enhancement is coming for Sony’s expensive mid-gen refresh.

Without any details for the new enhancement patch, it’s not known what exactly is coming to the game for PlayStation players. However, considering other enhancements coming to the system, we’ll likely see a boost to the game’s resolution and a smoother framerate in the game’s performance mode.

At the time of writing, Silent Hill 2 Remake runs at a dynamic 1440p in its 30fps mode and a dynamic 1080p in its 60fps mode. While patches fixed stuttering and replaced its hilarious original Dog Ending, there are still minor performance issues in the game. Due to the PS5 Pro’s enhanced GPU, we should expect to see a higher average dynamic resolution just by default.

However, Bloober Team could be adding even more enhancements to the game on PS5 Pro. The game could receive higher texture quality, shadow quality or even ray-traced reflections, brining the game in line with the PC port. Hopefully, Bloober will release a full list of additions to the game.

Great News for the handful

While the PS5 Pro isn’t selling like hotcakes, although the PS5 disc drive is, it’s great news for customers that the new console is being supported by the vast majority of players. Even as a key exclusive, it’s great to see that PlayStation’s biggest supporters being rewarded with some slightly higher resolutions.
