Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be one of a number of games getting a PS5 Pro Enhanced badge. Revealed within the full list of enhanced titles, the latest CoD will likely benefit from enhanced visuals and performance on Sony’s latest console, although exactly how much yet has not yet been confirmed,

Following its internet-breaking launch, only marred by atrocious spawns, Black Ops 6 has been a return to form for the series. As expected, the tech-shifting shooter is set to take advantage of the PlayStation 5 Pro upon its release date, a console that boasts more power than the base PS5 but is not truly “next gen“.

Black Ops 6 PS5 Pro support

Anyone who picks up the PlayStation 5 Pro later this month will likely be able to experience an even better version of the latest CoD on console. Currently, as per Digital Foundary‘s analysis, Black Ops 6 makes use of dynamic resolution to target a full 4K (3840×2160) but can drop all the way down to 1920×2160. This means that during more hectic, busier sections, the resolution takes a hit to keep the framerate at a solid 60 FPS target, although even then the game can drop into the 50s.

With the Pro version, we assume there will be less variance in the resolution, meaning that image quality won’t need to be compromised to hit the 60 FPS target. Furthermore, we expect the game will be able to better hit 120fps in the game’s high framerate mode for gamers who want the smoothest experience possible. The list of PS5 Pro Enhanced games now includes more than 50 titles that will receive visual and performance related increases over the base PS5 version. While it’s not known yet exactly how Black Ops 6 will benefit from the Pro’s increased power, a higher resolution and smoother framerate is to be expected.

No ray-tracing, though

Despite the PS5 Pro’s huge raytracing advantage over other consoles, the latest Call of Duty has no support for the technology at all. Unlike some of the other titles in the series, such as Modern Warfare 2019 or Black Ops Cold Way, there is no ray tracing in BLOPs 6, although it could be added in a future update.

With the PS5 Pro boasting awesome raytraced reflections in Alan Wake 2, it would have been cool to see the technology make its way to BLoPS 6. However, with the technology surprisingly absent from even the PC version of the game (despite the engine supporting it), it’s likely not coming anytime soon.
