In Marvel Rivals’ competitive lobbies, players are usually engaged in a high-stakes war for supremacy, with each participant attempting to maximize their contributions through elims or strategic positioning. Duelists and Vanguards frequently take center stage, as their responsibilities are critical in obtaining kills and managing the battlefield.

However, in this fast-paced environment, Strategists are frequently limited to the position of team healers, ensuring that their teammates remain in the fight longer by giving critical support and healing. At the same time, an unusual incident has rocked the existing meta where a player has risen to the prestigious Grandmaster rank by utilizing the frequently overlooked role of a Strategist, rather than delivering damage.

This player, recognized for their mastery of Rocket Raccoon, was able to reach the pinnacle of competitive play without causing a single point of damage during Season 1.

Marvel Rivals player reaches Grandmaster with Rocket Raccoon while dealing no damage at all

A Marvel Rivals player named Habooskie posted an image on the Rivals subreddit sharing his current Season 1: Eternal Night Falls competitive lobby statistics. He goes by the name of NoDmgRocket in-game and plays as Rocket Raccoon in ranked lobbies.

The player has around 18.6 hours of playtime with the character and has won 71 matches out of 108 played, thus hitting the Grandmaster Rank. But that wasn’t amusing. What caught the community’s eye was his damage and KO stats, each of which was zero!

Habooskie hadn’t dealt a single damage using Rocket Raccoon’s primary fire weapon and had just used his healing abilities to support their teammates. Up until now, the player has a total healing of over 2 million units with a 42% accuracy rate.

Upon seeing his stats, several other Rivals players were shocked and shared their amazement where one wrote, “I know a Spider-Man out there is attempting this too”, hinting at Spidey’s ‘no killing’ rule. Another chimed in, “Bro is doing a pacifist run.”

While Rocket Raccoon currently sits on the B-tier on our meta-tier list for January 2025, the character’s team-up abilities with Duelists like The Punisher and Winter Soldier have mostly proved to be extremely useful in matches where damage is the key requirement.
