Deep Silver has acquired the Homefront IP from Crytek and transferred development of next year’s Homefront: The Revolution over to a new Nottingham-based studio, Deep Silver Dambuster Studios.
The game had previously been in development at Nottingham-based Crytek UK. The new studio appears to have been formed by former Crytek employee Hasit Zala.
“Crytek has been in extensive discussions with leading producer and distributor of digital entertainment products, Koch Media, regarding the acquisition of rights for the ‘Homefront’ IP,” commented Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli.
“On completion of the proposed acquisition, the Homefront team from Crytek’s Nottingham studio would transfer their talents to Koch Media in compliance with English law and continue their hard work on upcoming shooter, ‘Homefront: The Revolution’. Both parties hope to finalize and implement a deal soon.”
“We are thrilled to see another great IP joining the Deep Silver universe,” added Koch Media CEO Klemens Kundratitz. “We strongly believe in the potential of Homefront: The Revolution and trust in the new team to continue the path we have been walking in the last years.”
Deep Silver’s acquisition follows weeks of speculation over Crytek’s financial situation, which alleged that Crytek UK employees had been failed to be paid on time.
The dispute allegedly led to the “bulk of employees” refusing to turn up to work.
Last week, Crytek publicly acknowledged the concerns stating that it had “now laid the foundations for securing Crytek’s future – not just in the short term, but also long term.”
