Following the mind-blowing release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, iconic game developer Hideo Kojima has urged the games industry to create something “really new”.
While the video game auteur works on his next two projects, his horror game OD and Metal Gear Solid successor Physint, Kojima confirmed that he will not be playing through the upcoming remake of his PS2 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Kojima won’t touch Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Speaking to Canadian fashion retailer SSENSE, Kojima was asked whether or not he would be playing the upcoming remake of his brilliant PlayStation 2 game.
When asked if he would be playing the remake from the company that famously fired him, Kojima reportedly laughed and said: “No, I won’t”.
Alongside potential grudges with Konami, the game developer discussed his inherent boredom with the current games industry. Recalling the recent Summer Games Fest, the game creator is said to have been “disappointed about the state of his industry” as every game blends into each other.
“Even the visuals and the systems are pretty much the same,” the Metal Gear Solid creator said, “and a lot of people enjoy this, I understand, but it is important to put something really new in there for the industry.”
According to the outlet, Kojima confirmed that he no longer plays the majority of AAA releases as they all blend together. However, this only affirms his need to keep making something “really new” that no one has ever seen before.
When it comes to Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, it’s no wonder that Kojima won’t be playing through the stealth-action remake. Alongside the creator’s falling out with Konami, the game doesn’t really do anything new outside of its new multiplayer mode.
Keeping the exact same animations, the same gated loading areas and even the same voice acting, the remake is largely a visual makeover with new controls. For Kojima, someone who spent years creating the game, it’s little more than a Gus Van Sant Psycho.
